Tatyana Conne is well known master of her craft in making personalised and so beloved by everyone fabric dolls.
She started to make dolls in 2005, when she had to write her graduation paper work at the University on “Floral Boutique Gifts” theme. Therefore Tatyana went to an exhibition, where she discovered the primitive fabric dolls from an Italian company engaged in interior decorations. She could not afford to buy such a doll, so coming home, she ravaged a pillow and tried to make a doll that looked like the one she saw at the exhibition. She enjoyed the process. And she still does.
“…having less details provides more room for imagination…” T.Conne
The artist is inspired by everything. She looks through blogs, magazines, and websites related to fashion, children, interiors, just beautiful pictures and all these settles in her head. And at the right moment comes up with new ideas. She never knows from the start how the doll will look up in the end. She trusts her imagination and skills.
“For children, they are not just toys. They are close friends trusted with secrets.” T. Conne
When Tatyana just started to sew her dolls, a lot of people could not understand why are her dolls without a mouth, nose or why the head is that big… but many, on the other side, were delighted. Now, a lot of people create dolls being inspired by Tatyana’s creations. They are no longer perceived as peculiar, but as gorgeous dolls. Some of people even copy her dolls.
“Everything is so easy when I am staying positive.” T.Conne
Tatyana despises plagiarism. She believes that everyone has to find their style and way to express themselves in a unique manner. Hopefully more and more people will understand how important it is to respect the author right of an artist. These being said about Tatyana, I invite you to admire few of her dolls which are more like little humans with soul, character and charisma rather than dolls or toys (the artist herself calls them “les petits gens” that means “the little people” ).
